Pudgy Rolls and Fat Cheeks...

So I decided to snap a few pictures the other day.  Henry was super smiley and I just can't believe how roly-poly he is.  Look at the rolls on his arms?  And those cheeks...I kiss them everyday - multiple times.  :)

A Trip to the Doctor

So going to the doctor hasn't been Henry's most favorite thing to do.  He screamed at his 1 month appointment...had a hard time scheduling his next month appointment and had to profusely apologize to the receptionist (consequently, he immediately stopped screaming when we walked out the doors and got a smile on his face).  I was glad to have my sister along with me at his 2 month appt. a few weeks ago and she was able to snap some pictures.  He was much more pleasant this trip, despite having to get a couple shots.  :(

**Excuse his nakedness...he got measured and weighed when we first came in (the kid is 15 pounds now!), but then had to wait for the doctor to come in...and it was chilly in there!

Holding His Head High...

Henry is doing such a great job with "tummy time."  We've been working on his neck muscles and although it isn't his favorite, I can usually get a smile before he puts his head down in exhaustion.  :)  There is usually a lot of grunting and groaning as well.  He's also been starting to roll over onto his back once he's tired.  Just love watching him grow....but want him to SLOW DOWN!

Henry is 3 months old!

Can't believe how fast time is going...everyday we're seeing changes in him and it's been a blast to watch him grow right before our eyes.  It's only been 3 months, but it feels like Henry's been part of our lives for so much longer than just this short period of time.  It's amazing how fast life seems to adjust to this new chapter in our lives.

I've loved being at home with Henry and don't question our decision to stay at home for a second.  I've remarkably found things to do and the days fly by.  Henry's still on a pretty set schedule, so my days still mostly revolve around eating and sleeping.  I DO miss teaching, though.  I've been to school a few times since it started.  A friend of mine graciously watched Henry a couple of times during his afternoon nap (thanks again Laura!!), allowing me to run to school to do some reading testing.  It gave me my school "fix" and I loved being able to help.  I also wanted to show Henry to my kiddos from last year...I was pregnant the entire year and Henry didn't come until 6 days after the last day of school.  I loved seeing the surprise on their faces when they saw me and my little guy.  They were full of stories about how third grade was going and it tugged on my heart a little to think about what I'm missing.  I LOVE being a teacher and feel like God's given me a gift for it.  But I look at Henry's face and realize I'm right where He wants me for the moment.    I'm extremely fortunate to be able to stay at home and am thankful that I'm in charge of Henry's day.  Yikes, it's a big responsibility, but I'm praying for wisdom everyday and giving Henry up to Him.
Here are Henry's 3 month pictures...(and 2nd month alongside to compare)

Some 3 month out-takes...  :)

Again, what are you doing to me mom?  Still having a hard time sitting up...

He's moving more and more...making it hard for me to get a clear picture...

Things Henry can do at 3 months:
  • Sucks his fingers constantly.  Not one particular finger or hand.  Sometimes he gets both of them in there.
  • LOVES to stand - prefers to be standing most of the time.  Really working his leg muscles.
  • Always wants to be facing out and looking around.  Doesn't want to miss out on any action.
  • His neck is getting stronger by the day.  He's able to lift his head during tummy time for longer periods of time, although it's still not his favorite.
  • He can roll from his stomach to his back.
  • His eyes follow us across the room and it looks like he can see us from longer distances.
  • He is starting to giggle.  I can't get enough of that sound.
  • He is on a pretty routine sleeping schedule.  2 hour nap in the morning, 3 hour nap in the afternoon, a cat nap around 5:30, and bedtime around 8.
  • He's waking up only 1 time at night to feed - around 4 am!  Thank you Henry!
  • He loves his playmat and is grabbing ahold of more things.
  • Sits in his Bumbo seat for about 10 minute stretches and watches me in the kitchen.
  • Still falls asleep easily in the car, although is not staying asleep when we get out of the car like he used to.
  • LOVES bathtime - is starting to kick and giggle in the bathtub.

Growing...

I was looking through pictures the other day and found these.  Can't believe how much he's growing...

Or what about this?

His 3 month pictures are coming soon...

Some family photos...

So when my sister Holly was visiting a while back, we had a little photo session with Henry.  Wanted to snap a few with all three of us.  Henry was in a good mood, the lighting was perfect, so we went for it.  They turned out pretty well and Henry even smiled for a couple!  :)

Henry and Ella...

So Henry has a little friend named Ella.  She's the daughter of our good friends, Shaun and Laura Horrigan.  Henry and Ella get to hang out every Monday night when we get together with our Duke friends.  Ella recently celebrated her 1/2 birthday and we went to celebrate with her.  Henry had a great time, but by the time the party was over, both Henry AND Ella were conked out!

Ella's mom, Laura, and Ella's auntie Jen, snapped some cute pictures of the day and sent them to me.

The birthday girl had a long day!  :)

Dinner Out

So Henry's made it a little more difficult when we want to go out for dinner the last couple of weeks.  He usually falls asleep in the car, but as soon as we stop moving, his eyes pop open and he's awake (and usually a tad bit crabby).  Peter says he takes after his mom - he's a light sleeper and always wants to know what's going on.  He's constantly wanting to stand these days and is really working his leg muscles.  And ALWAYS moving...

And....he's out!  :)
