Seven Months Old...

Henry turned seven months old January 17th.  We've had some computer problems, so I'm just getting these posted now....

We've had quite a runny nose lately...poor guy has crusties and HATES his nose being wiped!

He is ALL over the place...had a very hard time taking pictures this time around.

Still loving the mirror...it's very distracting!

Things Henry's been doing these days:
  • We officially have 2 teeth popping through.  His two bottom teeth broke through the gums last week...they didn't come without a few days of crankiness, but it's another milestone.
  • He's army crawling like a champ and TRYING to crawl.  He'll get on all fours, but when he wants to move forward, he resorts to army crawling.  Still staying in one room and only moving if he sees something he really wants.
  • He's eating solid foods on a daily basis.  So far we've tried apples, pears, peaches, bananas (his favorite!), peas, green beans, sweet potatoes, squash, and cereal.
  • His hair is really growing in the front of his head.  People often comment about how funny it looks to have all his hair in the front.  I'm starting to see some waves in the hair he DOES have and am crossing my fingers that they will turn into curls.
  • Just had a doctor's appt. a week ago and Henry weighed over 20 lbs.  And he is still in the 98% for his head, making him a little top-heavy at times.  He bumps his head a lot and it usually doesn't seem to phase him.
  • Sleeping is the same from last month.  He usually nurses between 10-11 and then wakes up again to nurse around 4-5.  He's been up a little earlier than usual the last couple of days (6-6:30am) and we're hoping it doesn't turn into a pattern.
  • He's VERY observant and wants to see what's going on.  He's constantly straining to see things around the room or looking for the noises he hears.

Eating Solids...

It took him awhile, but he's finally getting the hang of it and is doing really well with eating solids.  We've had fun feeding him and seeing all of his funny faces as he tries new foods.  He's taken to quite a few fruits (apples, bananas, pears, peaches, blueberries...) and vegetables (sweet potatoes, peas, carrots, squash, green beans, white potatoes, zucchini...) by now...

Here are a variety of pictures we've taken either while he's eating or after...

Christmas with the May Family...

So again, it has taken me awhile to post these, but wanted to share about our time with my Dad's family over the holidays.  It had been 3 years since Peter and I had been able to spend Christmas with my dad's family.  We see each other in the summer for fair, but it is always nice to spend time together again during the holidays.

My cousins usually plan a "cousin activity" every year and this year we had a cook-off between all of us.  We divided up into 4 teams and used our church kitchen to create our masterpieces.  We were given specific ingredients to use and had to not only come up with a recipe to be judged, but were also judged on presentation.  We took this very seriously (some more than others), and had lots of laughs as we ran around the kitchen and created our masterpieces.
My sister, Holly, documented the occasion best, so here are her words and pictures about the Master Chef: May Edition.  :)

But overall, we had such a great time laughing, sharing, catching up, eating...makes me wish my grandparents were there to experience it all and to see how much we've all grown...

Looking forward to seeing EVERYONE again at Travis' wedding!  :)

Visit with Taylor Friends...

I was able to be in Indiana for two and a half weeks during the holidays.  I revisited my college friend, Lindsay, the day I flew in with Henry.  Does this look familiar?

Well the boys are growing up and this is what we look like these days...

Our visit was too short (as always), but it was so good to catch up and to have the boys together again.  :)

A few days later, Henry and I drove up to Detroit to visit my college roommates, Allie and Renee, and their kids.  Renee just had a baby 6 weeks prior and we wanted to be able to meet her sweet little Samuel.

This was the best group shot we were able to get...it's harder these days with kids.  :)

Sorry Sam, we woke you up and make you pose...

We were able to sit and talk...catching up on a variety of topics around cups of coffee. Times have certainly changed since our days at Taylor...kids running around and babies crying.  But so thankful for ALL of these girls and the role they still play in my life.  What I would give to have them closer!

More Christmas Pics...

Found a few more pictures and wanted to share random Henry shots we took over the holidays...
